Clinical Interests:

Specialist hip and knee surgeon, primary and revision hip and knee replacements, sports injuries and arthroscopic knee surgery.  International expertise in benign and malignant bone and soft tissue tumours.

I perform around 400 operations per year.  Knee surgery includes: knee arthroscopy (key hole surgery for torn cartilages), knee replacement, revision (redo) knee replacements, unicompartmental knee replacement and conditions relating to a broken knee.

Hip surgery includes: hip replacement, revision (redo) hip replacements, hip fracture, tumour surgery (including pelvic reconstructions) and treating conditions relating to a broken hip.

I have published over 50 scientific papers in the world's most important Orthopaedic Journals and have written three chapters in text books about surgery.

I regularly lecture around the world on joint replacement and tumour surgery.  I am also reviewer for the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery (leading Orthopaedic Journal), helping to decide whether research is good enough to be published.  I sit on several national committees including National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI) and National Cancer Intelligence Network (NCIN).

I am one of the Consultant surgeons at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital, which is one of only five purely orthopaedic hospitals in the country.  It has an international reputation as a centre of excellence.

I have a major interest in hip and knee surgery.  I use a variety of hip replacements and knee replacements that allow me to tailor the operation specifically for the patient to optimise function.

I am also a specialist in the treatment of bone tumours and soft tissue tumours.  I work in one of the largest bone and soft tissue tumour units in the world, treating many patients from the UK and from around the world.
